Transport assessment for new access road to the Valle del Nalón Shopping Centre

The Valle del Nalón Shopping Centre, located in the municipality of San Martín del Rey Aurelio, plans to set up a new access road from the AS-117 Regional Road.

To carry it out, the company Inmasa, editor in charge of managing this project, needed a transport assessment to understand the flow of traffic in the area and to estimate and diagnose whether it has ample capacity to cater for the proposed access roads, and it entrusted this task to Vectio.

To conduct this assessment, the following works were carried out:

  • Installation of a traffic count with radar technology;
  • Construction of a digital traffic model with micro-modelling techniques;
  • Analysis of the level of service of the surrounding junctions according to the methodology of the Road Capacity Manual
